Helen BetGivargis is an Assyrian artist, healer, and calligraphy practitioner whose work bridges visual art, ancient medicine, and mysticism. A former embryologist and the founder of Acupuncture Tree of Life and Inana Rose, Helen integrates Chinese medicine, flower essences, sound, and Assyrian spiritual traditions into a holistic practice.
A self-taught artist, Helen reconnected with her love of calligraphy after decades of healing work. Influenced by her uncles Shomon and Francis Bet-Ishu and the lineage of Middle Eastern calligraphers, she began creating visual invocations using sacred Assyrian letterforms. Her most recent series, Nisha’d Shlama (Women of Peace), features hand-drawn, whirling female figures composed entirely of Assyrian script—each a living blessing written into being. For Helen, creative and healing practices are not separate—they are one path toward restoration and remembrance.

“My art begins where breath meets intention. I work slowly, meditatively, letting each stroke of ink emerge from silence. As a healer trained in Five Spirits acupuncture, my life has always centered around rhythm, ritual, and elemental wisdom.
In Nisha’d Shlama, I channel this devotion through the Assyrian word shlama—peace, harmony, wholeness. The figures are not outlined but written into form, shaped by sacred letters drawn from Assyrian and Semitic traditions. Sheen, Lamed, and Meem—fire, air, and water—guide the flow of each composition. These women are not just drawings; they are incantations, moving meditations, and songs of survival. This practice is both a return and a reimagining—a weaving together of art, identity, and divine healing.”
